Learning

What did I learn from this season. I don't really like training. It's a release for stress, but it's not my favourite thing. But the training pays off on race day when I'm reeling in runners like bass. I'm the one with the endurance; I'm the one with the kick at the end. And that makes the training worth it.

Another benefit of training this year is that I lost enough weight to be featured in the firefighter calendar for my department. It's all about charity, of course (although my wife is pretty impressed).

I guess training is good, I just wish it wasn't so hard.

"If it was easy, everybody would do it!"

I'm Hammer, from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and I'm an age-group triathlete. I'm also a husband, father of 3 girls, a career firefighter, and a musician. I'm a busy guy, but that's the price you pay for being a Renaissance Man.
