Tri-Clinic
Just got word this morning that I'll be attending my first triathlon clinic on Sunday. There's swimming with instruction, indoor biking with set up info, and a running clinic. There will also be a yoga for athletes class, which I'm looking forward to, since my stretching needs help. I'm so steeped! Labels: clinic

Pods
I love podcasts. There are so many related to triathlon, whether they are tri specific, or deal with one of the three disciplines. I'm sick of the radio. If I wanted to hear the same song over and over again, I'd play the CD. So it's pods in my MP3 player. I just listened to Dave Scott while I shoveled the driveway. I went XC skiing with my 2 oldest girls yesterday. After the initial frustrations, we had a great time. 3K is long when you're 8 years old, but they finished like pros.

Another day
At last, my summer schedule is complete. The assorted associations have finalized dates and I'm all set. On another note, I spent the better part of the afternoon in a recording studio laying down some bagpipe tracks for my buddie's solo album. Very cool, but very time consuming.

Turmoil
Crazy. That's all I can say. I thought my year was all set. Now my station posting is changing, my job is changing, and nothing's constant, except family. And training. Every day I can do something in which I'm in complete control. No Chiefs, no Captains, no city staff. Just me. Just my drive, determination, and my talent. I'm discovering that's enough to get by. Actually, it's more than enough.

New Year's Day
What a great idea. A short triathlon to start the year sets the tone, I think. I had a great time, too. Things didn't work out as planned (as usual). My original idea was to use my indoor bike trainer, run, and xc ski. Well, the "no snow" screwed that up, so instead of skiing, I did 100 push-ups (in sets, of course). Better than nothing, I guess. Happy New Year.

"If it was easy, everybody would do it!"
I'm Hammer, from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and I'm an age-group triathlete. I'm also a husband, father of 3 girls, a career firefighter,
and a musician. I'm a busy guy, but that's the price you pay for being a Renaissance Man.
