I got my bike back from the shop today. Just a spring tune up. I've learned to chose carefully when finding someone to work on your baby. I call my bike "Frankenstein", but it's a term of endearment, and I want him taken care of properly.
I took him to another shop last year, paid my money, and felt secure with my ride. I was informed this year that a potentially disaterous situation was present in my fron hub, and had been there for some time. The problem has been rectified, and I'll never visit the other shop again.
The shop dude told me that the bike should coast faster now. I hit 54Km/h (33.6 m/h) downhill before the tune up; I can't imagine going much faster.
I'm still on my indoor trainer because of crappy weather. Yesterday I was doing 30 sec. sprints and decided to see how fast I could max out on the last sprint. Here it is; for about 2 seconds I was over 80kph. The trainer was humming I'll tell you. Maybe everyone has done this, I don't know. But it sure was cool.
This is what greeted me when I awoke this morning! No bikes today. It's snowing so hard, it's even hard to walk (without ski goggles anyway).

The competition season is coming into view (even though it snowed every day this week). I'm starting my 4th week of structured training, as opposed to doing whatever I feel like that day. My swimming has really responding well, but I'm developing an annoying case of shin splints. My plan for this week is to stop running, and replace running workouts with biking or swimming. Hopefully a week off will cure the shins.
